Eleanor Hardisty, age 96, of Northford and formerly of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at CT Hospice in Branford. She was the devoted wife of the late Walter Hardisty for over 64 years, until his passing in 2020. Eleanor was born on January 17, 1926 in New Haven, daughter of the late George and Rosemary (Friend) Baehr.
Eleanor grew up in Waterbury before moving to Cheshire more than 50 years ago and was a parishioner of St. Thomas Becket Church. Walt and Eleanor enjoyed many rides to the shoreline, spending time in Old Saybrook and Cape Cod. She attended local flower shows, absolutely loved gardening, and crafting at home.
Eleanor is the beloved mother of Matthew Hardisty and his fiancée, Kim Daly of Prospect and Suzanne Kaiser and her husband, Michael of Northford. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, Shannon McKee, Matthew Hardisty, Jr., Michael Kaiser, Mackenzie Kaiser and Stephanie Hardisty; her cherished great-grandchildren, Shawn, Cayden and Piper McKee; and her precious feline, Raja. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher Hardisty and her brothers, George and Robert Baehr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10AM in St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 No. Brooksvale Road, Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will follow in CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
