Cheshire – Eleanor F. “Ellie” (Parmelee) Adkins, 80, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of Frederick M. “Fred” Adkins.
Mrs. Adkins was born July 9, 1938 in Middletown, the daughter of the late Harry and Jennie (Marble) Parmelee. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lady Fenwick Chapter DAR, and in her spare time she enjoyed travelling, camping, gardening and duckpin bowling. Her most precious time was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, Mrs. Adkins is survived by her sons; Mark (Debbie), David (Robin), and Rick (Stephanie), all of Cheshire, and Scott (Kerry) of Wallingford, her daughter, Amy (Chris) Hayden of Bristol, and her brother, Richard (Nancy) Parmelee of Suffield. She will also be missed dearly by her eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Tracie Adkins, her great-grandchild Avery Michael, and her brothers, Arthur (Genevieve) Parmelee and Harry Parmelee, Jr.

Friends may greet Ellie’s family at the Alderson- Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 5PM to 8PM. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10AM. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Road, Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
