North Haven - Eleanor (Andria) Cristofano, formerly of Wolcott and Cheshire, entered into eternal rest on January 4, 2013. She was the wife of the late Herman "Bing" Cristofano.
Eleanor "Lovey" was born February 18, 1926 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Lena Andria. Upon graduation from high school, she worked at Southern New England Telephone as well as Scovill Manufacturing. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Eleanor retired from Peter Paul Cadbury, where she began her career as an executive secretary to the President. At the time of her retirement, she was the Director of Consumer Affairs and Recording Secretary of the local chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She had a zest for life with a positive and extremely pleasant attitude. She traveled throughout the country and world. She enjoyed her vacation home in Cape Cod and spending winters in Florida. During her 40 year residency in Wolcott, she was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and an active member of the Wolcott Senior Center. Eleanor gave back to the community in many ways including working with Literacy Volunteers and the United Way but her greatest passion was spending time with her cherished family.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and care givers at the Mary Wade Home. Our mother always had a smile for you (Mary Wade Staff) because you put a smile on her face.
Eleanor is survived by her sons Gary Cristofano and his wife Suzanne of Boca Raton, FL, Rick Cristofano and his wife Lucy of Wolcott and Thomas Cristofano and his wife Roseann of North Haven; her sister Marie (Emil) Howes of Wolcott; as well as her cherished grandchildren Joseph, Andreas, Alessandra, Simone, Sherlynn, Robert, Charles, Edwin; many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2013 9 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St to St Pius X Church in Wolcott for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
