Eleanor B. Bunger, age 84, of Cheshire entered into rest on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at her home in Elim Park Place with her devoted husband Donald by her side. Eleanor was born on November 3, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ , daughter of the late Frank and Blanche Brown Ross.
She was a graduate of Dumont High School and Drake College of Business. Eleanor was employed by Bergen Pines County Hospital, Presbyterian Mission offices in NYC, Valley Savings and Loan in Bergenfield and Old Tappan, and General Precision in Wayne, NJ. She was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls and an officer for the Order of the Eastern Star, both of which are Masonic organizations. She also taught Sunday School and sang in the choir of the North Reformed Church in Dumont, NJ. Eleanor and Donald moved to Waterbury in 1972 where they resided for 32 years, and were active members of the Congregational Church of Naugatuck.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, Eleanor is survived by her loving daughter Valerie Carroll, son-in-law Jim and grandson James of Hebron. She dearly loved Donald's daughter Donna Font of Sewell, NJ and her late husband Richard; Donald's son Robert Bunger of Hueytown, AL and his wife Deborah; grandchildren Theresa Jones, Timothy Bunger, Philip Bunger, Emily Sebert, Alan Bunger, Anthony Bunger and Rose Bunger; sister-in-law Marie Ross; nieces Karen Turner and Judy Joannidis, and nephew Paul Ross. Eleanor was predeceased by her brother Douglas Ross.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2PM to 5PM at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire CT 06410. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 31 at 10AM in the Congregational Church of Naugatuck on Division Street. Interment will be at 1:30PM at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd., Paramus, NJ.
