Eileen Mary Grehl

Eileen Mary (Spelman) Grehl, age 89, of Wallingford and formerly of Cheshire entered into rest on Friday, December 11, 2020 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Henry G. Grehl for over 62 years until his passing in 2012. Eileen was born on May 25, 1931 in San Antonio, TX and was raised in New York City by her loving mother Mary Spelman.

Eileen started her career in banking as a teller in NYC and eventually became one of the first female Vice Presidents in the industry, due to her ethics and trustworthiness. She made friends wherever she went and lived by the proverb, “You get more with honey than you do with vinegar”. She will be remembered for her loving and caring nature, and her devotion to her husband and family.

Eileen is the beloved mother of James Grehl and his wife, Lynn of Boca Raton, FL; Thomas Grehl and his wife, Michelle of Cherry Hill, NJ; and Maureen Murray and her husband, John of Cheshire. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Erik, Katherine and Daniel Grehl and his wife, Erika; Megan Grehl-Menage, and her husband, Come, and their son, Yves; Tiernan and Mora Grehl; and Thomas, Daniel and James Murray.

Friends may greet Eileen’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 4PM until 7PM. On Wednesday, December 16, 2020 her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM in St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 4:30PM in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd., Cheshire.
