Edwin Couch

WATERTOWN- Edwin F. Couch, 87, passed away Saturday October 22, 2011, at Hartford Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Betty Seymour Couch.

He was born May 29, 1924, son of the late Paul and Ethel (Brightman) Couch.

Edwin served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Post College and N.Y.U where he received a degree in Advanced Accounting.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Waterbury where he was a former Deacon, Trustee, past Chairman of the House Committee, and past chairman for the Christian Education Committee. He was a youth advisor for over 10 years, worked at the Waterbury Manufacturing Company from 1942 to 1958, was a active member of Troop 7 Boy Scouts, a Scout Master of Troop 7 from 1953 till 1995, and then became a Boy Scout Commissioner, a member of the Waterbury Lions Club, and a House Manager at the Seven Angels Theater.

Edwin is survived by a sister in law Roberta Seymour Grandpre of Colorado Springs; Uncle Ed has several nieces and nephews of the Grandpre and Seymour families. Ed's generous heart touched the lives of many people and he will be missed by family and friends. Donations can be made to The Betty S. Couch Scholarship fund at First Congregational Church of Waterbury or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Edwin will be held at a later date. Interment of Edwin's ashes will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery during a private ceremony at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is in charge of the arrangements.
