Edward Patrick Welch Jr.

Edward Patrick Welch Jr., age 73 of Cheshire, entered into rest on Sunday, March 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Deborah Welch for over 50 years. Ed was the son of the late Edward Sr. and Frances (Ryan) Welch and was a lifelong resident of Cheshire.

Ed was the owner of Edward Welch Partners and CMS Graphite in town and later SGL Carbon and worked with military air and nautical projects, NASA and later SpaceX with his own rocket as well as many fun projects including the Dodge Viper. Before Ed owned his manufacturing companies, he was building roads and houses all over town with his family.

Nothing was more important to Ed than his family. Ed retired young to spend all of his time with his one true love Debbie and with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He loved traveling the country and the world with his family. A true family man, nothing was more important to him than his family and he spent his life giving them the most love and the best lives anyone could ever hope for.

Ed was a brilliant mind, one of the brightest, in science and mathematics, but also incredibly creative and enjoyed being an author and artist. He wrote two novels, enjoyed drawing and painting and even created a business so he could share his art with others.

Ed also dedicated himself to his charity work with the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life, which is a very special and important cause to him. He also served as a eucharistic minister at the Church of the Epiphany which brought him great joy.

Ed is the beloved father of Tara Welch Perry and her husband Tim; and Heather Santi and her husband Christopher, all of Cheshire. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Samantha (Welch) Stacy and her husband, William, Jr.; Christopher Santi Jr. and Victoria Santi; his cherished great-granddaughter, Meaghan Stacy; his siblings, Neal Welch, Sheila McInnis, Susan Antillon and their families; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ed was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Meaghan Welch, who we know welcomed him home in Heaven on Sunday with his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends beside her.

Friends may greet Ed’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on St. Patrick's Day, Monday, March 17, 2025 from 9:30AM until 11:30AM. At 11:30AM his funeral procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12PM at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
