BEDFORD,N.H.- Mr. Edward Landau, 95, of 37 Ridgewood Rd., Bedford, N.H., passed away Tuesday evening May 25, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of the late Adela (Lipsez) Landau who passed away May 24, 2009 after 60 years of marriage.
Mr. Landau was born in Krakow, Poland, April 25,1915, a son of the late Henry and Rose (Schmaus) Landau and served as a Corporal in the Polish army at the start of WW II. He was a survivor of the Holocaust being liberated by the American Army in 1945. In later years he wrote his Holocaust memoirs and spoke to numerous groups of all ages to educate and do his part to ensure that it is never forgotten. He had been a resident of Bedford for the past 3 years, formerly residing in Watertown, CT for over 50 years. He retired in 1977 from the Risdon Mfg. Co., where he had worked as head of the Electrical Dept for over 17 years. He was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel of Southbury, CT. While a resident of CT he was a member of the Skating Club at Taft School and a member of the US 80+ Ski Club. He continued to Ski until several years ago.
He leaves one son, Victor Landau of Newmarket, NH and one daughter, Barbara Landau Mullin and her husband George Mullin of Amherst, NH; four grandchildren, Katherine Landau, Jessica Landau, Sean Mullin and Scott Mullin and his wife Sarah.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 27, 2010 at 12:30 pm at Temple B'Nai Israel, 444 Main St., North, Southbury, CT. Burial will follow in Farband Cemetery, Morris, CT. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
