Edward L. Euglow, Sr., 94, of Naugatuck, died April 18, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital.
Mr. Euglow was born September 11, 1914 in Hartford, CT, the son of the late George and Gertrude Euglow. He was the widower of his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruth J. Euglow.
Mr. Euglow was retired from Precision Ball in Winsted, CT. where he was the Maintenance Superintendent. He was previously an over the road truck driver, for Mid-Atlantic and Continental Coast. He spent over 38 years driving trucks. He also served as a Constable and Volunteer Firefighter for the Town of Colebrook, CT.
In 1975, they retired to Hampstead, NC, where they made their home for nearly 25 years. Mr. Euglow was active in his community, as a firefighter for the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Dept, where he achieved the rank of Captain.
He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors, especially fishing, clamming, camping and traveling with his wife. Mr. & Mrs. Euglow returned to live in Connecticut in 1999. He was very proud of his children and all of his grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons Russell and his wife Avis Euglow of Colebrook, CT., Carl and his wife Sandy Euglow of Bennett, CO., and Ronnie and his wife Linda Euglow of Yale, VA., and a daughter Ellen and her husband Robert Granoth of Naugatuck, with whom he made his home. He also leaves behind nineteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Gertrude B. Aldridge of Rocky Kill, CT. He was predeceased by two sons, Edward L. Euglow Jr., and John B. Euglow.
Arrangements- Funeral Services for Edward are private. Burial will be in Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead, NC. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is in charge of the arrangements. Donations in Edward's name may be The Watertown Fire Department, 935 Main St, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
