SEYMOUR- Mr. Edward F. Cashin, 82, of 32 Smith St., Seymour, died Tuesday morning March 30, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of Rita (Darm) Cashin.

Mr. Cashin was born in Waterbury, April 2, 1927, a son of the late Edward F. ad Margaret (Dowling) Cashin and had been a Seymour resident since 2003, moving here from Bethany where he had lived for 43 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a First Sergeant during the occupation of Germany, and was a retired Heating and Air Conditioning Serviceman. While a Bethany resident he was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of Naugatuck. He was a Life member of Post 2448, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Bethany, and a member of Post 174, America Legion of Oxford. He also held memberships in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie 4216 of Ocala, FL., and the International Clowns of America, Alley 66 of Stratford, where he was known as "Mr. Squeeky" and "DingBat".

Besides his wife of almost 55 years, he leaves three sons, Edward L. Cashin of Bethany, Michael D. Cashin of Riverside, CA, and Kenneth S. Cashin of Anaheim, CA; and 9 grandchildren. He was a Loving husband, excellent Father and true friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday April 7th, 2010 at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at the Church prior to the time of the mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. on Tuesday April 6th from 6pm to 8pm . Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:15pm. Friends are asked to please omit flowers.
