Edith Prinz, 96, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Albert Prinz who passed away in 2014.
Mrs. Prinz was born November 24, 1920 in Toronto, Canada, daughter of Gordon and Jennie Williams, and moved to Wisconsin at a young age. She met the love of her life, Albert Prinz, after high school and they were married in 1944. They would go on to share an incredible 70 years of marriage. Mrs. Prinz was dedicated to her country and supported the war effort on the home front during WWII. They settled in Cheshire in 1959 where Mrs. Prinz was known as a mother, friend, and active community member. She was a longtime member of the Garden Club, a force to be reckoned with in the local bowling league, and an avid knitter. She taught all her children how to ski and helped her husband open a ski hill. Mrs. Prinz volunteered at her children’s schools and continued to volunteer with the elderly at Gaylord Hospital well into her 80s. She was known for her cheese pie and Yorkshire pudding, wonderful sense of humor, and generosity to her friends and family.
She will be fondly remembered by her children Gary Prinz (Carol), Brian Prinz, Pamela Lawrence (Clifford), Eric Prinz, Steven Prinz (Violetta), and Albert Prinz, Jr. (Pamela). She also leaves her loving grandchildren Matthew, David, Marci, Brian, Arianna, Adam, Allison, Ross, Steven, Troy, Jillian, Michael, and Natalie and her great-grandchildren Murphy, Jadyn, Talon, Jacqueline, and Hazel. She was predeceased by her son Mark Prinz.
Arrangements - The funeral for Mrs. Prinz will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10:00 am at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 74 Central Ave., Waterbury, CT 06702.
