Edith "Edie" P. Perkins, age 90, of Lakeside entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 7, 2013 at V.I.T.A.S. at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the devoted wife of the late Alfred H. Perkins. Edie was born on January 21, 1923 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Chauncey and Theresa Zedlitz Plumb, and resided most of her life in Middlebury.
Edie was a living embodiment of the Prayer of St. Francis, generously and graciously giving to others. She was a lifelong member of both the Middlebury Congregational Church and the Waterbury Eastern Star. She was a fantastic cook, great baker and avid knitter. Edie will be remembered for her amazing cookies and all of the knitted gifts she made.
She is the loving mother of Sandy VanAmburg and her husband Jim of Lakeside, and is survived by her cherished grandsons Dan and Andrew Partridge.
A Funeral Service for Edie will be held at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06710 on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 6:30PM. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 5PM until the time of the service. A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, CT.
