CHESHIRE - E. Perry Cumming, 92, of Cook Hill Rd., passed away Monday evening April 26, 2010 at Elim Park Baptist Home. He was the husband of the late Gertrude Cumming who passed away in December of 2008 after 66 years of marriage. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Mr. Cumming was born September 23, 1917 in Niagara Falls, NY the son of the late Archibald and Ethel (Perry) Cumming. He graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor in Engineering. He became the Chief Engineer for the Robertshaw Controls in Milford until his retirement. He was a longtime Milford resident before moving to Cheshire in 2000.
During his years in Milford, he was a boating enthusiast and a member/instructor of the Milford Power Squadron as well as the Red Cross. While living at Elim Park, Mr. Cumming was a Fire Marshal and a Brooksvale Librarian.
Mr. Cumming is survived by his daughters, Cheryl MacQueen and her husband, Marc of Middleborough, MA and Cynthia Rowe and her husband, Gary of Cheshire; six grandchildren, Garrick Willard and his wife, Diana, Sean Willard, Jonathan Rowe, Jennifer Rowe, Lauren LaFrance and her husband, Michael, and Heather Maxim and her husband, Michael; four great grandchildren, William, Max and Alexandra Willard and Patrick LaFrance.
Arrangements - A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Nelson Hall at Elim Park, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire. There are no calling hours and burial will be private in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross 703 Whitney Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
