COVENTRY- Dr. Valerie Eva Kennedy, 67, formerly of Cheshire, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 14, 2016.
She was born September 29, 1949 in New Haven daughter of the late Thomas James Kennedy Jr. and Olive Mary (Aspland) Kennedy.
Dr. Kennedy received her Doctorate from Cornell University in Organizational Behavior and Labor Law. Valerie was a Human Rights and Opportunity Representative for the State of Connecticut at the time of her passing. Dr. Kennedy will be remembered for the fearless, detailed, and ethical way she fought for equality in the furtherance of ensuring equal opportunity for those that have historically been discriminated against in our country. A fortunate few, however, will remember Dr. Kennedy for her wide smile, her impressive aptitude to recall educational facts, her extensive seasonal/holiday specific wardrobe complete with vibrant accessories, and the bighearted way she showered others with her uninhibited generosity. Dr. Kennedy will always be known for her sense of being fashionable late.
She is survived by her son Thomas Kennedy-Jones of Coventry; her sister Vicki Bothroyd of Coventry; her cousin Mary Kennedy of Coventry; and four nieces Amanda (Craig) Albert, Ashley Bothroyd, Audra (Justin) Miller, and Alicia Bothroyd; and Thomas Jones of Titusville, FL.
Arrangements- A Funeral Service for Dr. Kennedy will be held 4 P.M, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. Calling hours will be held 3 P.M until the time of her service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in Dr. Kennedy's name may be made to your local ASPCA.
