Glastonbury – Dorothy “Dottie” Shiller, 89, passed away on Tuesday February 16, 2021 at the Hearth at Glastonbury. She was the beloved wife of Arnold Shiller.
Dottie was born on April 2, 1931 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah (Cohen) Pollack. She was predeceased by her sister, Sheila Phillips. She is survived by her brother Robert Pollack and his wife Lynn of Bryn Mawr Pa and her brother-in-law Arthur Phillips of Granby, CT.
Dottie was a longtime Waterbury resident where she was a member of B’nai Shalom Synagogue. As an accomplished pianist and singer, she loved nothing more than entertaining others. She couldn’t pass a piano without playing it, and garnered many fans among those in long term care facilities and among patients and staff at the Hartford Healthcare Oncology Center.
She loved people and she loved animals. She believed it was her personal mission to make others laugh, and there wasn’t a dog around that wouldn’t follow her home.
Besides her husband of more than 66 years, she is survived by daughters (Marla) Cindy Shiller of Manchester Ct, Holly Tursky and her husband David of Framingham Ma, sons Allan Shiller and his wife Christine, of Glastonbury, and David Shiller and his wife Stacey of Haddonfield NJ grandchildren Daniel and Bonnie Tursky, Ryan and Rebecca Shiller, Jacob Shiller and great granddaughter Ryleigh Shiller.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Waterbury. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury is assisting in the arrangements.
