Cheshire – Doris R. Walden, 82, passed away on December 23, 2018 at Regency House Health & Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford.
Dorie was born February 2, 1936, in New Haven, the daughter of the late David and Fannie (McFarland) Walden. She was a retired teacher/administrator for the Cheshire Public Schools and St. Bridget School. Dorie was proud of the 51 years she spent at home in schools in Cheshire. Working with kids and her colleagues was her joy. Were it not for her poor health, she would have continued til her last breath.
Dorie is survived by her brother, David, and his wife, Carol, of London, Ontario. She will also be missed by the rest of her Canadian family, John and Lisa Walden, Karen and Wouter d’Ailly, and their children, Alex, Riley, Chantelle, Jotham, and Justin. Distance never diminished her love for them. Dorie also will be missed by her US family, Karen Vaslow and their beloved pets, Annie and Shylo.
Arrangements- Funeral services for Doris will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Mount Carmel Congregational Church, 3284 Whitney Avenue Hamden, Ct. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 28 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dorie’s name to your local school system, pet shelter, or to a charity of your choice.
