Doris Borowy

CHESHIRE – Doris Borowy, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Southington Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Edmund Borowy.

Mrs. Borowy was born February 20, 1933, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Oscar and Simone (Diamond) Deschesnes. Doris was the oldest child of a large family that grew up on a farm in Cheshire. As a mother, she had always enjoyed hosting large family get-togethers and was later very involved with her grandchildren. Doris was very proud that both her husband Ed and oldest son Chris were aerospace engineers. Doris was in the Saint Bridget’s Ladies Guild for forty years, and taught CCD religious classes for the church’s children. Besides tending to her own family and the parish, Doris was also the chief chef for her son David’s numerous spaghetti supper campaign events, and a prodigious baker for fundraising events. Doris appreciated her daughter Karen’s adventurous nature, but especially appreciated that Karen didn’t inform her of her hang-gliding and other dangerous activities until after they’d occurred.

Mrs. Borowy is survived by her sons Christopher Borowy and fiancée Theresa Albanese of Southington, CT and David Borowy and his wife Stephanie of Cheshire; her daughter Karen Esposito and her husband Kevin of Breckenridge, CO; her grandchildren Courtney Borowy, Matthew Borowy, Peter Borowy, Taylor Borowy, Andrew Dickinson and Isabelle Esposito; her sisters Jeanne and Dolores, and brother Robert. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Roger and sister Pauline.

Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 12 noon at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church and there are no calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget’s Ladies Guild.
