CHESHIRE – Doreen A. Festa, 64, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2019 at Smilow Cancer Center. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sallee (Antinolfi) Festa.
Doreen was born April 30, 1955 in New Haven. She was a lifelong Cheshire resident where she was a graduate of Cheshire High School Class of 1973. She held various certification as a Phlebotomy Technician and as a Veterinary Assistant. She was employed with the Yale University Department of Athletics since 1980 as well as Lifetime Care at Home. She was a communicant of St. Bridget of Sweden Parish where she worked as part of the religious education program.
Doreen is survived by her siblings Jay Festa (Sandy) of Cheshire, Donna McCormick (Daniel) of Cheshire, Dana Travis of Park City, UT, Joseph Festa III (Penny) of Hollywood, FL; her nieces and nephews Jennifer McCormick, Bridgette McCormick, Colin McCormick, Garrett Festa, Colby Festa, Nial Williams, Karli (Vinny) Travis, Christopher Festa, Ty'Lee Festa; her cousins Joseph Aitro, Robin Aitro, Adrienne Speruzzi, Dawn Hubbard, Greg Bachrach, and Laura Lupoli; paternal aunt and uncle, Richard Festa and Patty Festa; cousins Lauren Festa, Cynthia Moriarty, Richard Festa, Elizabeth Festa, Kimberly Festa, Gavin Festa, Christine Festa, Lisa Brougham, Robert Festa and many friends and coworkers.
Besides her parents, Doreen is predeceased by her brother Christopher J. Festa and cousins Denise Bachrach and Michael Festa.
Doreen loved gardening and nature, creating artwork with her photography skills and cooking Italian foods. She had a huge heart for animals and leaves behind her beloved feline named “Cappio Porcini”.
Doreen’s family extends our sincere gratitude to cousins Dawn Hubbard, Moira Aitro and Laura Lupoli for their care, love and compassion, and many hospital vigils during Dee’s last several weeks of life. You are the angels among us.
Arrangements – Doreen’s funeral procession will leave the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. at 9:30 am on Wednesday July 31, 2019 and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish – St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish or to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
