CHESHIRE – Major Donald O. Cilley, US Army (Ret), 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Paula (Gould) Cilley.
MAJ Cilley was born June 8, 1943 in Holden, MA, a son of the late H. Norman and Florence (Perham) Cilley. He was a helicopter pilot who served on tour in Vietnam in the 11th General Support Aviation Company of the 1st Air Cavalry Division. After retiring from the Army, Donald began a career at Sikorsky Aircraft which spanned 22 years.
Besides his wife of 48 years, MAJ Cilley is survived by his sons Gregory Cilley and his wife Michelle, and Jeffrey Cilley. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Feylin and Riona Cilley, and his best friend of 28 years, Alvin Barley.
For those who may wish to honor Donald’s memory, it is suggested that a donation be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or the ASPCA.
Arrangements – A graveside service for Donald will be held in the spring at Buckminster Cemetery, South Street, Barre, MA. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, is assisting with the arrangements.
