CHESHIRE - Donald R. Gode, 90, passed away Monday April 9, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Judy (Buechele) Gode.
Mr. Gode was born January 6, 1922 in Waterbury, the son of the late John and the late Olive (Cole) Gode. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. where he flew in over 51 missions and was employed at Pratt and Whitney from 1956 until his retirement in 1984. He was a Life Member of the Cheshire Fire Department where he spent many days. Besides his time at the firehouse, he enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Notch Store; his WWII friends at McDonalds as well as his neighbors on Moss Farms Road.
Mr. Gode is survived by his three daughters Jean McSweet of Cheshire, Peggy Malmberg of New Milford, Barbara Wiles of Cheshire; his son Ken Gode of Cheshire; his brother Jack Gode of Madison; his longtime companion, Sheila Batchelar; his grandchildren, Andy; Cindy, Roger; Sara Greg, Brian, Kelly, Jenna, Kevin, Emily, Judith, Christopher, Justin and Tyler; as well as 10 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sons Pete and David Gode.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Friday April 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
