MIDDLEBURY-Diane (Booker) Hermonot, 78, passed away peacefully in her home in Middlebury on Sunday, December 26, 2010. She was surrounded by her family who loved her very much. Diane loved living in Middlebury. She lived here for all of her 78 years.
Diane most enjoyed spending time with her family and treasured her children and grandchildren. She maintained a family tradition of cooking a big dinner every Sunday and loved being surrounded by family. She is remembered by all who knew and loved her as a wonderful person with a generous and loving spirit.
Diane was born in Waterbury on December 2, 1932. She graduated from Crosby High School and attended Post College. She grew up in and was a lifelong member of the Middlebury Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school as a young woman. She married Edward Roy Hermonot on August 30, 1958.
After many years of dedicated service to the residents of Middlebury delivering their mail through rain, sleet, and snow, she retired in 1999 to become a full time Grandma to her eight grandchildren. They all were blessed by knowing her well and loved her very much.
Her loving and generous spirit was well known by more than her children and grandchildren. Those to whom she delivered mail remember how often she went the extra mile because she cared. In her Mom's later years, Diane was an inspiration to all of us through the dedicated and loving support she gave her Mom. Many residents of the Middlebury Convalescent Home had their days brightened by her warm smile and cheerful songs where she volunteered many hours over the years.
Diane is the daughter of the late Florence Mae and George Whitman Booker. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Roy Hermonot and her brother, Whitman Booker. She is survived by her sister Doris Satula of Harbor Springs, Michigan. Diane leaves four sons, Rick Hermonot and wife Elena of Sterling, CT, Steve Hermonot of Middlebury, Bob Hermonot and his wife Debbie of Middlebury, and Dave Hermonot of Waterbury; and eight grandchildren.
