Middlebury, CT William Dermody, Jr., 79, husband of the late Cheryl (Levine) Dermody, died peacefully on August 18, 2018 at Live Well, Connecticut in Plantsville.
Bill was born on June 24, 1939 in Waterbury, CT son of the late William and Ellen (Kemes) Dermody and had lived in Middlebury most of his life. Bill worked for many years as a draftsman and drafting supervisor for Tech Systems. He also taught drafting classes at the Porter & Chester Institute. Bill was a U.S Army Veteran and a parishioner of St. John of the Cross Church. He was an active member of the B.P.O. Elks, Naugatuck and Waterbury Lodges for many years, as well as past Exalted Ruler of Naugatuck Lodge 967.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Doreen Krokosky and husband Ray; Maureen Bain and husband Jim; Kellie Weygant and husband Kris; his 7 grandchildren and his sisters, Loretta Phelan and Fran Lorenze.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West Street, Middlebury. Everyone is kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury. Calling hours are Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Bill’s memory, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
