Deolinda S. Martinez

NAUGATUCK- Deolinda Martinez, 88, a resident of Naugatuck for the past fifty nine years, passed away Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect. She was the widow of Rafael A. Martinez who predeceased her in 2000.

She was born August 17, 1926 in Murtosa, Portugal daughter of the late Joao M. and Ana L. (DeOlivera) DaSilva.

Deolinda was employed by Uniroyal Footwear Division and the Naugatuck Glass Company prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Clube Uniao Portuguesa, and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

She is survived by her son Rafael (Ralph) and his wife Tammy Martinez of Naugatuck; her daughter Ana Maria and her husband Bill Cario of Roxbury; two grandsons Michael Martinez, and Billy Cario; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers Manuel, Julio, and Jose DaSilva, and a sister Maria DaSilva.

Arrangements- Mrs. Martinez’s funeral will start 10:15 A.M Monday July 6, 2015 from The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street, 06770, and proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck, 06770 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross St, Naugatuck, 06770. Calling hours will be held Sunday July 5, 2015 from 3 to 5 P.M at the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to the St.Francis of Assisi Building Renovation Fund, 318 Church St, Naugatuck, 06770.
