NAUGATUCK – Denis J. LeVasseur, 76, formerly of Waterbury, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Daunis) LeVasseur, who passed away in 2010, after 40 years of marriage.
Denis was born December 17, 1944, in Waterbury, the son of the late Armand and Rita (Adams) LeVasseur. He was raised in Waterbury and spent most of his adult life in Naugatuck. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Denis was a longtime employee of Campion Ambulance until his retirement in 2011. He was a founding member of the former Naugatuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps., and had also been a member of the Naugatuck Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Arie 640 of Naugatuck and a member of the Polish American Club of Naugatuck. He enjoyed fishing.
Denis is survived by his children Vicki LeVasseur, Dawne Peschell, and her husband John, Denis LeVasseur Jr, and Amy LeVasseur; his two grandchildren Jacob McKnight and Anthony Peschell, and one great-granddaughter, Kira McKnight. Denis is also survived by his brother Armand LeVasseur and his wife Laura, and his twin sister Denise Gelinas. In addition to his wife, Denis is predeceased by his son Todd and his sister Caroline LeVasseur.
Arrangements – A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main St. Waterbury 06705.
