David Towne Butterfield, age 66, of Meriden and formerly of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at his home. David was born on February 28, 1950 in New Haven, son of the late Raymond Victor and Virginia Ada (Plumley) Butterfield.
He earned his undergraduate degree from UConn and his Master’s from Quinnipiac University in medical technology. David worked as a Phlebotomist at New Britain General Hospital and for several other hospitals in CT. After his retirement he spent much of his time volunteering, he was a volunteer at the Meriden Library and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Meriden. David was fascinated with meteorology and weather, and was proud of his coin and stamp collection. He was a Boston Red Sox fan and loved UConn Basketball.
He is the beloved brother of Susan Mancinelli and her husband, Ray of York, ME and formerly of Cheshire; loving uncle of Kim Cashman of South Bend, IN, Holly Cashman of Newburyport, MA, Andrew VerPlanck of Greenwich and Jeffrey VerPlanck of Watertown, MA. David was predeceased by his sister, Jane VerPlanck.
Services for David will be private and at the convenience of his family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with his arrangements.
