Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother
Naugatuck - David A. King Sr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare Facility in Ridgefield after a long battle with Alzheimer's. For 52 years, he was the husband of Ann (Anderson) King.
Mr. King was born April 20, 1941, in Niles, CA, the son of the late Raymond and Genevieve (LaHaie) King and step-son of William Cleaveland who was his only father figure growing up. He attended schools in California graduating from Alonzo Stagg High School. After his service in the U.S. Army Reserves, he earned his BA degree graduating with honors from Western Connecticut State University. For most of his working career he served as regional sales manager for British Petroleum Chemicals, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, birding, gardening, and his pets. He also loved NASCAR, vintage cars, and fixing cars and never avoided a complicated mechanical challenge.
In addition to his wife Ann, he leaves to cherish his memory with his sons David King Jr. and his wife Jane of Ossining, NY and Timothy King of New Milford; his daughter Monica King Schipul and her husband Rob of Scituate, MA; his grandchildren Karissa, Robbie, Annie, Vivian, Evelyn, Dyllan, Brianna, and Kailey; his sisters Lonnie VanRiper and Carroll Liddicoat, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews.
Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 3 to 6 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. On Thursday, September 5, 2024, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, New Haven Rd., Naugatuck. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
