Darrell Lee Spalding

CHESHIRE – Darrell Lee Spalding, 58, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Leean (Duthie) Spalding for over 29 years. Darrell was born November 27, 1961, in Ravenna, OH, son of Howard Charles and the late Janet Mae (Sokolic) Spalding, and has been a Cheshire resident for over 20 years.

He was a Food Service Manager for Compass Group for over 20 years, travelling for work for many years along the East Coast, recently he worked as a Technician for Lifeway Mobility. Darrell was a dedicated member of the Cheshire United Methodist Church, volunteering on more than several children’s missions to include the UM Army. He cheered for the Cleveland Browns and was a loving father with an incredible sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Leean and his father Howard Spalding, and his wife, Irene of FL; Darrell is the beloved father of Rachel Spalding and Drew Spalding, both of Cheshire. He is also survived by his brother, Scott Spalding and his wife, De of OH; his sisters, Dawn Donato of OR and Lynn Bruce and her husband, Greg of OR; his mother-in-law, Helen Duthie of NJ and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Donald Duthie.

Friends may greet Darrell’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 4PM until 7PM. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10AM at the Cheshire United Methodist Church, 205 Academy Road, Cheshire, CT 06410. Please meet directly at church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire United Methodist Church.
