WATERBURY - Daniel F. Kennelly, 80, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Beverly M. (Pirone) Kennelly.
Mr. Kennelly was born November 29, 1937 in Croughcroneen, Lixnaw, County Kerry, Ireland, the son of the late Jett and Margaret (Lyons) Kennelly. He came to the U.S. in 1961 and proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He had a lifetime career with the railroad. Daniel was a longtime resident of Waterbury and a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. A natural storyteller, with a love of language and laughter, he cherished being with his family and friends, enjoyed gardening and the natural world, and loved all animals.
Besides his beloved wife of 56 years, Mr. Kennelly is survived by his children Margaret (Katie), Gerald, Patricia (Michael), and Kathleen (Matt), his brother Gerald Kennelly, nieces, nephews, and his best buddy, Kenney. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Adrian and his sister Sr. Mary Kennelly.
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St., Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church and there are no calling hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
