NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Maria da Luz DaSilva, age 82, of Naugatuck, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife for 66 years of Anthony DaSilva Sr.
Mrs. DaSilva was born in Newark, N.J., on Aug. 17, 1929, daughter of the late Joao and Amelia Albergueiro. She was retired from Uniroyal Holdings, was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Naugatuck Portuguese Club. She was a very special lady who truly knew the meaning of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, walking, traveling, sewing and embroidering, but most of all cherished the time that she spent with her family and friends.
Besides her husband, Mrs. DaSilva is survived by two daughters, Natalie Aresta and her husband Augie of Florida, and Rosemary Hill and her husband Ed of Watertown; a son, Anthony DaSilva Jr. and his wife Mary of Brewerton, N.Y.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. DaSilva's family would like to thank the angels of the SICU Unit at Waterbury Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 9:15 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday June 4, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m.
