CHESHIRE - Cynthia Newland Hazard, 64, died unexpectedly Friday, June 1, 2018 in South Kingston, RI.
Cindy was born October 22, 1953 in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of Frank Newland and the late Charlene (O'Brien) Newland. She lived in southern California during her college years and became a Medical Respiratory Therapist. After moving back east, she resided in West Hartford before moving to Cheshire, working as a paralegal. Wanting to stay home with her son, Justin, she started a business called Medlaw, which allowed her to work from home. That business flourished, defending doctors for insurance companies solving the hardest cases while obtaining the best experience.
Cindy married Bruce Hazard in 1996 and made her home in Cheshire along with her son Justin. Cindy was an avid runner and enjoyed swimming, kayaking, biking, bird watching, knitting and recently learned to play bass guitar. She also was a beautiful singer.
Besides her husband, Bruce, and her father, Cindy is survived by her brothers Craig and Wright; her sisters Gayle and Charlene; her granddaughter, Grace, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, Cindy is predeceased by her son, Justin.
Arrangements – Funeral service will be held on Monday July 9, 2018 at 11 am at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
