WATERBURY — Ms. Amy K. Covillion, age 37, of Waterbury, formerly of Prospect, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury after a long illness.
Amy was born in New Milford on Sept. 24, 1973, a daughter of Robert and Joya (Mannion) Covillion. She had been a resident of Waterbury and Prospect and was a proud graduate of Wolcott High School, Class of 1991.
In the first half of her short life, throughout her school years, she was very active in sports such as softball and basketball while enjoying dancing and participating in Girl Scout activities. She was a finalist in the Miss Preteen National Pageant and was voted by her fellow finalist as Miss Congeniality. In the final half of her life, she worked as a successful customer service representative and as a skilled bookkeeper.
Amy had a tremendous amount of love for music, her cat named "Kitty Cat," and her family. She took a great deal of pleasure in playing cards and games with her family and friends as well as outwitting her father in Scrabble. She will be missed dearly.
Besides her parents, Amy is survived a sister, Keri Covillion of Prospect; and nephews, Robert LaPlante and Gabriel LaPlante; as well as several aunts and uncles. Amy's family would like to thank the staff of the Saint Mary's Hospital VITAS Unit for the loving and compassionate care that they provided to Amy.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, from 1 to 2 p.m. and from the conclusion of the service to 4 p.m.
