Joseph Cortellino

Naugatuck, CT Joseph A. Cortellino, 97, husband of Anna R. (Radice) Cortellino, died peacefully on August 1, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital.

Joe was born on August 16, 1926 in New York, NY a son of the late Andrew and Theresa (Cesario) Cortellino. Before retiring, Joe worked as a chemical engineer at Uniroyal, Inc.

Joe loved to read and he was an avid New York Yankees and UCONN Women’s basketball fan. For many years Joe enjoyed singing and dancing with the Naugatuck Kollege Kapers.

Besides Anna, his wife of 66 years, Joe is survived by his son, Bob Cortellino (Carlene); his grandchildren, Christie Chipelo (John), Bob Cortellino (Kelly), Alyssa Cortellino (Dave) and Lara Camp (Justin); his great grandchildren, Juliana, Olivia, Luke, Reese, Penelope, Willow and Luca. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Martha (Silvestry) Cortellino, his son, Joseph Cortellino, his daughter, Anna Cortellino, and his brother, Charles Cortellino.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. A graveside service will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Joe’s memory, donations are requested to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
