NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Gertrude (Cochran) Connelly, age 91, of Naugatuck, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury with her loving family at her side. She was the widow of Charles E. Connelly.

Mrs. Connelly was born in Seymour on Aug. 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Milton and Catherine (Hearns) Cochran. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family and many friends. She was a communicant and member of the Legion of Mary of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck and was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Naugatuck Emblem Club, the VFW Post 1946 Ladies Auxillary and the American Legion Post 17 Ladies Auxillary. She loved flowers, watching the birds outside of her window and spending time with her dog.

Mrs. Connelly is survived by two daughters, Loreen Gualtieri and her husband, Bob, of Naugatuck and Theresa Connelly of Merrimack, N.H.; a son, Seamus O'Connolly of Odessa, Texas; five step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loyal, loving dog, Riley. She was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m.
