Southbury, CT Alice G. Clark, 101, formerly of Naugatuck and the widow of Wilson T. Clark, died peacefully on October 5, 2023 at her home.
Alice was born May 20, 1922 in Derby, CT daughter of the late Ralph and Olive (Hoadley) Gemmell and had been a lifelong Naugatuck resident until moving to Southbury to live with her daughter. Alice was a local real estate broker with her husband at Wilson T. Clark Realty, having worked well into her 80’s.
Alice was active in politics, having served on the Naugatuck Republican Town Committee; she served as the campaign manager for Congressman Romeo Petroni in the late 1960’s and she ran for State Representative in Naugatuck in 1969. Alice enjoyed cooking and raising her three children. She had many different hobbies and she enjoyed her summer home on Lake Quassapaug with her family and friends. Alice also enjoyed spending winters in Singer Island, Florida and she had a love for all animals, especially her cats, Mia and Abbey.
Alice is survived by her sons, Wilson T. Clark, Jr. “Woody” and Richard Clark both of Naugatuck; her daughter, Cynthia Clark of Southbury, with whom she made her home. In addition to her husband and her parents, Alice was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Gemmell and her sister, Lois Monnett.
Alice’s family would like to thank all those who took care of her, especially Melissa Willis, who gave Alice exceptional care.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
