Cheryl Jamieson Vaichus, 49, passed away peacefully at Wolcott Hall Nursing Center, Torrington on Monday, December 30, 2019, after fighting the good fight for many years against Huntington’s Disease.

Cheryl was born November 20 in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, the cherished daughter of Audrey Jamieson Sperring of Waterbury and the late Derek Roy Jamieson. She was also the stepdaughter of Ray F. Sperring, Jr. and the granddaughter of Joan Jamieson of Watertown and the late Alfred Jamieson. Cheryl graduated from Wilby High School and attended Navarro College in Dallas, TX.

She is survived by her beloved and cherished children, Matthew Vaichus of Waterbury, Luke Vaichus of Bristol, Catherine Vaichus of Atlanta, Erin Vaichus of Los Angeles, Adam Vaichus of Wolcott, and Zachary and Joshua Vaichus of Woodbury. She is also survived by her sister Jacqueline Quirici and her husband Mike of Woodbury. Besides her father and grandfather, she was predeceased by her sister Wendy Jamieson. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

The well-being of her seven children was the focus of Cheryl’s life for many years and she shared her extraordinary sweetly loving nature not only with them but her entire family and friends. Her family would like to offer their gratitude to the staff at Wolcott Hall and Vitas Healthcare who provided care and comfort to Cheryl during her lengthy illness.

Friends may greet Cheryl’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Avenue, on Friday, January 3, 2019, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family. For online condolences, to share a photo or a story, please visit www.fordfh.com.
