Prospect - Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Staskiewicz) Chartier, age 76, of 122 Waterbury Road, died Wednesday January 5,2011 at her home. She was the wife for 59 years of Emile A. Chartier.
Mrs. Chartier was born in Bristol, Ct. on January 19,1934 a daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Staskiewicz. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and was a good friend to all who knew her. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Prospect and a member of the St. Margaret's Church Guild in Waterbury. Mrs. Chartier enjoyed shopping and was an excellent cook.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Chartier is survived by a daughter: Celeste M. Chartier of Bristol and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son: Michael Chartier, a daughter: Roxanne Chartier, two brothers: Vincent Staskiewicz and Stanley Staskiewicz and a sister: Virginia Chrostowski.
Mrs. Chartier's family would like to thank the staff of the Waterbury V.N.A. Hospice and also her lifetime friend and caregiver, Sandy Franco, for the loving and compassionate care that they provided.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday January 15,2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church 4 Union City Road Prospect with her nephew Father Richard Deshaies officiating. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Private burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bristol at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Road Route 69 Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
