Prospect-Mary Eleanor Champagne, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in her home.

Eleanor was born on August 14, 1924 in Waterbury a daughter of the late Edward C. and Mae (Farrell) Champagne. She worked as a commercial artist for SNET for 37 years before retiring. She was a graduate of the Paier School of Art and of Waterbury Catholic High School. She was an artist and loved to paint. She loved dog rallies and was a member of the Obedience Dog Training Club of Waterbury.

She is survived by two nephews, James Champagne and his wife Maryanne of Stratford and Edward Champagne, one niece, Mary (Champagne) Dean and her husband Richard of Beacon Falls. She also leaves her faithful companion Skip the poodle.

She was predeceased by her brother Edward and his wife Angeline and her sister Shirley Casey.

The funeral will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in the Spring. As requested by Eleanor there are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect is in charge of the arrangements.
