CHESHIRE – Carolyn Phillips Bollinger, 81, passed away Saturday August 15, 2015 at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. The wife of John C. “Jack” Bollinger, Carolyn was born March 11, 1934 in Hamilton, OH, the daughter of the late Escar and Maude Phillips. She attended Ohio State University and before her marriage, was employed in Chicago by Leo Burnett Advertising agency. A longtime resident of Cheshire, and a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church, she was an active volunteer at Gaylord Hospital for over 15 years and an avid reader and music lover. Her love of flowers led her to jobs at both the Window Box Florist and The Pink Petunia in Cheshire.
A student of history, an avowed patriot, and loving wife of Jack, who proudly served on the U.S. Missouri, Carolyn never missed the opportunity to wave the flag at every Memorial Day parade or a Veteran’s or July fourth event in town.
She will be remembered by her selfless giving and cheerful support to so many friends and family members. In addition to her husband of 46 years, Carolyn is survived by her many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 20, 2015, 10:30 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., to St. Thomas Becket Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 until the funeral procession leaves for church. Memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Community Food Pantry, P.O.
