Naugatuck, CT Carole F. (Hackett) Carter, 89, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2025 at her home.
Carole was born October 12, 1935, in Waterbury, CT a daughter of R. Howard and Margaret (McGrath) Hackett. Carole graduated from Naugatuck High School, class of 1953 and also from the American Institute of Banking. Along with her career, Carole was also involved as a den mother for 8 years with Cub Scouts; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Peter J. Foley Little League; Daughters of Isabella Emblem Club; Naugatuck Women’s Club and the Pioneer Square Dance Club of Prospect.
Carole had retired in 1999 after serving 47 years in the banking profession. Carole began her banking career during her senior year in high school in 1952 and worked at Naugatuck National Bank through 1959. Moving to Torrington, CT, Carole continued her career at the Brooks Bank & Trust Co. until 1961. Returning to Naugatuck, she worked at Naugatuck Valley Savings & Loan Assoc. for the next 17 years. In 1992, Carole joined The Shelton Savings Bank which one year later became Webster Bank, retiring in 1999. During retirement, Carole volunteered at Now, Inc. as a senior companion for eight years.
Carole’s family was her world, and she treasured every moment with them. She loved to sew and crochet, creating handmade treasures for everyone. She created a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of those she held dear.
Carole leaves two sons, James (Jay) Carter and his wife Kim, their children, Jillian (Blake) Balda of New York, and Michael Carter, New York, Edward Carter and his wife Terri of Naugatuck, CT their children Kaitlin (Tony) Favalora of Niantic, CT Zachary (James)Carter of New York, Emilia Favalora (great granddaughter). A niece Sharon (Paul) Carney of Waterbury, CT a brother, Robert H.Hackett of Bristol, CT along with several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Brenda Santone for the loving care she provided Carole over the last several years. She is predeceased by her twin sons, Richard (Ricky) and Randolph (Randy) Carter, a sister Margaret A. DeNigris, her son’s father, Peter W. Carter and her two closest friends John & Ruth Holley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 11th at 11:00 am at St Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. A calling hour will be April 11th from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Carole’s memory, donations are requested to either the March of Dimes at www.marchofdimes.org or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org.
