Carol M. DiCarlo

Retired Head Start Teacher

Naugatuck - Carol was the widow of John M. DiCarlo. Mrs. DiCarlo was born May 10, 1929, in New York, NY the daughter of the late Carl T. and Marie (Alerini) Smitha. She was a graduate of St. Barnabas High School & Grace Institute of New York City, and Mattatuck Community College.

Before retiring in 1989, Mrs. DiCarlo was head teacher for Naugatuck’s Head Start program and also taught Catechism at St. Francis Church in Naugatuck. She enjoyed traveling and acted in numerous community theater plays upon her retirement. She never felt better than when she was on stage performing in these local productions. Mrs. DiCarlo was a communicant of Saint Vincent Ferrer Church in Naugatuck.

Carol will be remembered as a kind loving supportive Mother. She revered her parents and imparted many of their - and her - best qualities to her children. Those fortunate enough to have known her enjoyed a very special gift of her love, devotion and friendship. In addition, she had a very playful, silly side and didn’t hesitate to share that humor with others.

A native of the Bronx, she loved spending summers growing up in the Catskill Mountains of New York, where her parents also had a home in Margaretville, NY. She also loved her own family’s many vacations in Lake George and Southampton, NY. Carol loved rooting on her beloved New York Yankees especially during their championship years.

Her legacy reflects a remarkable full, rich, well lived life. She brought much love, kindness, and support to all whose lives she touched. There are not enough words to describe just how much this beautiful, intelligent, kind, loving woman will be missed. Good Bye Mom!
Carol leaves three loving sons, Michael J. DiCarlo of Naugatuck, John W. DiCarlo of Waterbury, and Richard T. DiCarlo of Middlebury. She also leaves a grandson, Nathaniel DiCarlo, of Rochester NY.

The DiCarlo family would like to thank Michelle and the fine staff of Genesis/Glendale Center in Naugatuck for their kindness and compassion given to our Mother and family during her stay there. They did a wonderful job caring for her and for that we are very grateful.
