Carl Podgwaite

HAMDEN - Carl J. Podgwaite Jr., 70, passed away Tuesday February 14, 2012 at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven. He was the husband of Anita (DeBiase) Podgwaite.

Carl was born July 27, 1941 in Detroit, MI, the son of Alpha (Reynolds) Podgwaite and the late Carl J. Podgwaite Sr. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Hamden.

Besides his wife of 35 years and his mother of Cheshire, Carl is survived by his son Carl J. Podgwaite III of GA; his daughters Connie Davis of GA, Susan Mekos of GA and Margaret Podgwaite of SC; his brother Timothy Podgwaite Sr. of FL; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 18, 2012 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3680 Whitney Ave. Hamden at 11 am. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Father McGivney Cancer Center, 659 George Street, New Haven, CT 06511. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
