PORT CHESTER, NY- Bruce Charlesworth Dein, Jr. of Port Chester, NY passed away on March 7, 2012. He was born to Bruce C. and Florence C. Dein on July 13, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, NY. Bruce is survived by his sisters Margaret Dein Bradley (Peter E. Bradley) of Narragansett, RI and Eleanor Dein Sharpe, and her sons Richard and Jeffrey, of Oak Park, IL, stepbrother Eric Johnson, and his children C. J., Robert and Anita, of Dover Plains, NY, and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother James L. Dein, grandparents G. Louis and Margaret C. Dein of Honesdale, PA and Maurice F. and Gertrude G. Childs of Mt. Vernon, NY, and stepmother Anita B. Dein.
Bruce grew up in Pelham, NY, was awarded a BA in American Studies from Amherst College and an MA in Sociology from University of Chicago. He retired in 2006 after a nearly 40-year career with the U.S. Postal Service.
Bruce was a lover of the arts and literature and often visited museums in New York City and Chicago. He had a droll sense of humor and a keen ability to observe the world around him. He is remembered for his kindness and for being an interesting conversationalist. He will be greatly missed.
