Naugatuck, CT - Bruce W. Brenia, 76, beloved husband of 49 years to the late Jeanne Brenia, passed away at his home on April 6, 2025. Born on October 15, 1948 in Waterbury, Bruce was the son of the late William and Helen Brenia.
Bruce was born and raised in Naugatuck. He attended Naugatuck High School and was a three sport athlete, graduating in 1966. Bruce would later be inducted into the Naugatuck Hall of Fame in 2006. He then went on to attend Boston University, followed by Suffolk Law School, and successfully passed the Bar exam on August 1, 1974. Bruce dedicated the past fifty years to practicing law, earning the loyalty and respect of his clients, who deeply valued his devotion. He seldom missed a day of work and continued to do so until the time of his passing. By his side in the office for the last 45 years was his best friend Janet Malvey who will miss him dearly.
Bruce’s greatest joys in life were vacationing on Cape Cod, opening day fishing, golfing, and officiating high school football. He enjoyed many years playing in the Wednesday night golf league, first with his father and then with his son, at Hop Brook Golf Course. He was a longtime member of Western Connecticut Football Officials Association (WCFOA) and was inducted into the Connecticut Football Officials Association (CFOA) Hall of Fame in 2012. After working with nearly the same officiating crew for almost 30 years, Bruce cherished his “3 months of bliss” with his nearest and dearest friends.
Bruce is survived by his children, Carolyn Britt and her husband, Thomas, Jacqueline Dibble and her husband, Matthew and Richard Brenia and his wife, Jessica; and his grandchildren, Allison, Michael, Meghan, Victoria, Olivia, Abigail, Jack and Charlie.
