Gary Brown

Waterbury, CT Gary Lynn Brown, 67, husband of Linda (Mangine) Brown, died March 28, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Gary was born October 15, 1955 in Waterbury, CT a son of the late William and Eleanor Brown. Gary graduated from Chase Elementary School, Crosby High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut. Gary worked as an accountant, IT specialist and accounting manager during two separate employments at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He also worked as a financial database programmer at CT Hospital Association in Wallingford as well as Parson Group Consulting in Stamford where he had assignments at MasterCard, Reader’s Digest, Honeywell and General Electric.

Gary enjoyed numerous hobbies and interests. He was an avid theater enthusiast and loved watching his children in theater productions. He also enjoyed science fiction media such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. He was continuously learning about history, and enjoying nature with his family. Family was of the utmost importance to Gary. He showed this fidelity in numerous ways, such as when cooking wonderful family meals and tenderly caring for his father-in-law, Joe Mangine, in his last years.

In addition to Linda, his wife of 33 years, Gary is survived by his children, Jacquelyn Brown, Christopher Brown and wife, Samela; Stephanie Brown, Jason Cramer and wife, Carrie; his grandchildren, Landon and Levi Brown; his brothers, Jay Brown, Kenneth Brown and wife, Lynn; his sisters, Suellen Pappas and husband, John; Debra Parry and husband, John; his brother in law, Steven Mangine and wife, Genevieve; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Teddy.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Inurnment will follow in St. James Cemetery Columbarium, Naugatuck. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
