WATERBURY — Linda K. (Stokes) Briggs, 66, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Saint Mary's Hospital VITAS Hospice Unit with her husband by her side and surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Ronald T. Briggs Sr.

Linda was born in Waterbury on March 9, 1947, and was the daughter of Susanna Stokes and the late Frank J. Stokes. She was the daughter-in-law of Anastasia Briguglio and the late Leo Briguglio. Linda was a graduate of Croft High School in 1965. She worked as a registered nurse for various convalescent homes and most recently Utopia Health Care until her retirement. Linda was an Avon representative for almost 40 years.

Family, friends and animals were Linda's passion and delight. Linda never missed a Christmas morning, first day of school, weekend sleepover or sporting event for her three grandchildren. She instilled hard work, the importance of family and compassion for all things into her children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Ron, and her mother, Susanna, Linda leaves a daughter, Lisa DeTulio and her husband, Mark, of Prospect; and a son, Ronald T. Briggs Jr. and his wife, Libby, also of Prospect; two sisters, Tyna Lindsay of Cartaret, N.J., and Deborah Venters and her husband, Thomas, of Warwick, R.I. She also leaves three adoring grandchildren, Nicholas, Julianna and Ava.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Saint Mary's VITAS Hospice Care for all of the care and support of Linda and her family.

Funeral services for Linda will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Friends and relatives are asked to meet at church. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road (Route 69), Prospect. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
