Boothipuram “Whitey” Vaitheeswaran, age 79, of New Haven and formerly of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7th, with his loving family by his side.
Whitey was the devoted husband of Chitra Vaitheeswaran of New Haven. He is also survived by his son, Vijay Vaitheeswaran, and his wife, Michelle Meertens, of New York; and his daughter, Shoba Lemoine and her husband, Steven Lemoine, of Orange. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Keila, Jasmin and Joseph.
Whitey was an accomplished international businessman and steel-industry veteran. He was trained as a mechanical engineer in India, and earned his MBA in America. He retired as Executive Vice President at I2S of Wallingford.
Whitey embraced life in full, and always looked for exciting new projects and adventures. His interests ranged from global travel to fine cuisine. From New Orleans jazz to Indian classical music, he was a great aficionado of culture. In retirement, he enjoyed cruising the Quinnipiac and Connecticut rivers by boat. What he loved most of all was sharing good times with those close to him.
Friends may greet Whitey’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home at 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT, on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 12:30PM until 2:30pm.
