Bertha “Bonnie” (Phillips) Barth, age 94, of Oakville entered into rest on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Apple Rehab in Watertown. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward Barth. Bertha was born on December 7, 1922 in Naugatuck, daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Blanner) Phillips.
Bonnie was a longtime resident of Oakville and a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Watertown where she taught CCD and was a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed sewing and reading and was a literacy volunteer at Silas Bronson Library. She took pleasure in gardening and cooking.
Bonnie is the beloved mother of Edward Barth and his wife, Emma of Fairbanks, AK; Marilyn Datelle of Waterbury; William Barth and his wife, Debbie Kachuba of Beacon Falls; James Barth of Watertown and Janice Lindsay and her husband, John of Branford. She is the loving grandmother of Sherry, Heather, Michael, Jack and Anne and is also survived by her five cherished great-grandchildren; her sisters, Amelia Lauer of Waterbury and Lorraine Anasovich of Naugatuck and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William Phillips.
Friends may greet Bonnie’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06710 on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 10:30AM until 12:15PM. Bonnie’s funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:15PM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1PM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main Street, Watertown. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
