John Bertero

PROSPECT — Mr. John B. Bertero, 87, of 8 Lakeview Drive, died June 26, 2010, at Paradigm Health Care Center in Prospect.

Mr. Bertero was born in Rye, N.Y., on Oct. 13, 1922, a son of the late Charles and Grace (Rinero) Bertero. He received a master's degree in engineering from the University of Miami, and was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft where he worked as an engineer for many years. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed playing boccie. Mr. Bertero was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II.

Mr. Betero is survived by a brother, Charles Bertero of Westbrook; a sister, Marie Taragowski of Killingworth; his longtime friend, Linda Wilson of Prospect; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 294 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
