CHESHIRE - Bernice R. (Dymarczyk) Plaskon, 94, of Cheshire, passed away Tuesday evening, September 8, 2010 at the Meriden Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Stephen Plaskon. Mrs. Plaskon was born December 2, 1915 in New Haven the daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna (Zacklorske) Dymarczyk. In 1945 she had been the first basewomen on the championship Women's Industrial League. She was the Head Teller for First Bank in Hamden for many years until her retirement. While a Hamden resident she had been an active member and past President of Post # 88 American Legion Aux. She was a Cheshire resident since 1969, and was a member and past Treasurer of Cheshire Chapter # 1863 American Association of Retired Persons and a past Treasurer and Secretary of the Cheshire Senior Citizens. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church, and was a member and former Treasurer of the Lades Guild. She had been an active member of Cheshire's Generations Together Committee, which focuses on interaction between students and senior citizens. In 1987 she was selected, along with 40 other senior's, to participate in the Senior Intern Program, spending a week in Washington, D.C. meeting with Conn. Senators and Representative, and other Federal Agencies. Mrs. Plaskon is survived by her daughter Joan Tatigian and her husband John with whom she made her home; her brother Walter Dymarczyk and his wife Vadis of Branford; five grandsons John Tatigian and his wife Mary of Glen Rock, NJ, Michael Tatigian of Clearwater, FL, Steven Tatigian and Joseph Tatigian, both of Jackson, WY, and Robert Tatigian of North Hollywood, CA; five great-grandchildren Jack, Peter, Mikayla, Catherine and Megan and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her four brothers Charles, Frank, Chester Dymarczyk and Ben Davis as well as her three sisters Mae Stodolnik, Mildred Judge and Rose Stapilns. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday September 14, 2010 at 10:15 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery.
