Naugatuck- Bernard C. Stubbs Jr., 93, passed away Thursday March 27, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catherine "Kitty" Matthews.

Mr. Stubbs was born in Patten, Maine, August 16, 1920, son of the late Bernard C. and Flocie (Williams) Stubbs Sr. He was a U.S Army Veteran serving in World War II and went on to become and professional Truck Driver for Dumochel Paper Company. He was a life member of VFW Crusaders Post 1946 and was a member of the Naugatuck Eagles Club 640. What Bernard loved most was spending time with his family, traveling, camping and fishing.

He leaves his twin daughters Diane Dutton of Naugatuck and Glenda Armandi of Maine; his step daughter, Betty Lydem of Naugatuck; a step son Donald Chase of Frankfort, ME; brothers, Willard Stubbs of Bangor, ME and Carroll Stubbs of Silver Springs, FL; his sisters Bertha M. Wildes of Bowdoinham, ME, Margaret Boucher of Bangor, ME and Judy Delaite of Lincoln, ME; as well as his grandchildren Kimberly Lemoine of Terryville, Laurie A. Squires of Naugatuck, Robert Armandi of Fl ; Step-grandchildren James Lydem of Wolcott, Shawn Lydem of Waterbury, Shayne Lydem of Waterbury, Loleta Lydem of Naugatuck, Lance Lydem of Naugatuck, Christopher Chase of Maine and Stephen Chase of Bristol; two great grandchildren as well as fourteen Step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bernard is predeceased by his brothers Merel Stubbs, Rodney Stubbs; his sister Ida Metcalf and Grandson David Lydem

Arrangements- Calling hours will be held on Friday April 4, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. with Military Honors being held at 7p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 1946, 239 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, CT 06770 or to the Eagles Club 640 388 High St., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
